About Thomas

Before joining the Board, Thomas served on the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), including an appointment to its Executive Committee in 2021. This hands-on involvement gave him a deep understanding of district operations and community needs—insights he continues to use in his Board role.

As a parent with young children in D303, Thomas is personally invested in the success of the district. He constantly seeks community input, walking precincts to hear residents’ concerns, and using that feedback to inform Board decisions.

Leading Through Challenges

When Thomas joined the Board, the district faced urgent challenges:

  • An enrollment crisis affecting multiple schools
  • More than $216 million in backlogged capital replacements and improvements
  • Over a decade of declining academic outcomes

Thomas collaborated with fellow Board members and the new district administration to tackle these issues head-on. Together, they:

  • Engaged the community in redistricting to relieve overcrowded classrooms
  • Created a long-term capital plan to address overdue building maintenance and upgrades
  • Reassessed curriculum and programs to elevate academic performance for every student

By combining transparent decision-making with forward-thinking strategies, Thomas and the Board have begun steering D303 in the right direction.

Committed to Transparency & Academic Excellence

With nearly 20 years of business and consulting experience—spanning both education and financial services—Thomas brings a wealth of knowledge to the board table. He is a strong advocate for:

  • Open Communication: Ensuring parents, teachers, and community members have a clear understanding of Board decisions and district direction
  • Fiscally Responsible Planning: Allocating resources efficiently to support classrooms and academic programs
  • High-Quality Education: Providing the support and resources each student needs to excel, whether they’re high achievers or require additional help

Thomas believes that achievement is a choice, and through thoughtful leadership, he aims to uphold high standards that prepare students for success after graduation.
